Is Qaddafi Re-Thinking His Decision?

Kerry Bush Doctrine Continues in Retreat

In light of the crushing of the Taliban and the demise of Saddam, Qadaffi looked into the mouth of a roaring and angry beast and capitulated. After seeing Hezbollah, Syria, Kim Jong Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stick up their noses (and middle fingers) in the direction of that once-great-but-now-emasculated creature, he may well re-think his decision.

As announced previously on this blog,  the Bush Doctrine is dead... replaced by the Kerry Doctrine (wait on the UN, get France's approval, pressure Israel to stand down, send diplomatic overtures to the Russians and the Chinese, etc.).

The Kerry Doctrine that was rejected by the electorate and which lost the White House has taken over the Bush Administration. If Bush didn't mean what he said in 2002 or didn't think he could back it up, he never should have said it.

The question is not whether we should have or should have not gone into Iraq, the question is why didn't we also go into Iran and Syria. Why didn't we help Israel eliminate Hezbollah? If the Bush Doctrine applies to anybody, it SURELY applies to Iran and Hezbollah.

A war that should have been fought two or three years ago will someday be fought. Only in the future it will be a far greater struggle.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill,  "We were given the choice between war and dishonor. We chose dishonor and we will have war." And it will be a much harder war to fight now than it would have been two or three or four years ago. The cost will be much greater not only in terms of dollars, but in terms of lives. That is, if we will have the will to fight in the future.

If tomorrow Qaddafi told Bush to go to heck, I wouldn't be surprised and he, Qaddafi, no longer has reason to be scared.
