When Party Comes First

Hillary just loves Joe Lieberman. They've been friends for over 30 years. She admires him no end... but she'll back whatever Democrat candidate wins in the CT senate race no matter who he is (even if it ends up being Stalin - or just a rich guy who thinks that Castro and Uncle Joe had some good ideas concerning economic policy).

I always thought "party over country" was an evil thing? When did supporting someone who disagrees with you more than the other guy trump commitment to principle merely for the sake of the party?

Then again, I can pose the same question to Senator Santorum. "Party above principle" and "Party above country" should be marks of shame, not positions to be admired.

Anyone remember how Lieberman got elected in the first place? William F. Buckley put country ahead of party and backed the moderate Democrat over an incumbant liberal Republican (Lowell Weicker).

Of course, Bill has always had principles.

Spelling in Cyberspace

OK, OK, I need to open my first entry with a spelling explanation.

I'm a lousy typist, but that doesn't stop me from being maniacal when it comes to the English language. With that said, I must explain the name of my blog (despite the inherent narcissism)... "FromTheBleechers" contains the obvious misspelling of "bleachers" (or not so obvious if you search the net for bleechers).

Hold on, I can explain!

I was in a band called The Bleechers (CDs available!). The misspelling is an homage to The Beatles who purposely misspelled "beetles". Misspellings are common among the internet set, so I thought "bleechers" would fit right in.

Is that OK? Can I start my ranting yet?

What to expect from me... since graduating from a leftist university (redundant, I know) I have spent the bulk of my professional career in higher education (on the administrative side). I have seen, heard and experienced much of what the wacko left has to offer.

I wasn't always a rightist. I was born into a Democrat family (albeit a Scoop Jackson Democrat family, but a Democrat family nonetheless). I was also raised a devout Catholic (oh no, religion!). Ronald Reagan and my college professors moved me to the right in the 1980s (in completely ways of course). A series of things led me out of the Catholic Church, but that's another topic for another time (although the political history and current political leanings of the CC will crop up in my writing now and again).

I have been an active poster at the Ann Coulter Official Chat room for some time and I have a religious blog elsewhere in cyberspace. I hope to stay in education and politics here.

Sarcasm and obscure references usually dot the landscape of my blogging... so be prepared.

I'm a conservative, evangelical, Judy Garland/Pink Floyd fan who plays bass (hide the children!).

So "from the bleechers" I look at the world... starting today at Townhall.com.
